Guidelines for the Scholarship Program

The New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants Board of Directors has approved scholarships during the twelve months ending April 30, 2024. In future years, the amount of the scholarships will be determined annually by the Board of Directors when voting on the annual budget.
For the twelve months ending April 30, 2024, scholarships may be awarded to a student in an accredited four-year college or university accounting or business program. General qualifications and timetable for the scholarship program are detailed below:

Qualifications Required to Apply for Scholarship:

Applicant must:

  •  Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, a New Hampshire resident or studying at a New Hampshire college or university and an accounting or business major entering their junior year at an accredited four-year college or university, a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in accounting or business in an accredited program, or those seeking the additional 30 hours of education to become eligible for a CPA license in New Hampshire;
  •  Be recommended by a professor or person responsible for the accounting or business program where the applicant is presently enrolled;
  • Complete and return the application provided by the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants by the due date;
  •  Must have at least 60 credits or at junior standing;
  •  Must have taken at least 3 courses of upper level accounting courses which would exclude introductory financial and managerial classes or the first 6 credits in accounting courses.

Due Date for Applications:

The completed scholarship application, along with supporting documentation, must be submitted by December 15, 2023.

Awards to be Made:

The Financial Careers Committee of the New Hampshire Society of CPAs will announce its decision regarding the scholarship awards no later than the end of December, 2023.

Criteria to be used in Selection of Students:

The Committee will use academic achievement in making the scholarship awards.

Application Form

Instructions:

  1. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, a legal New Hampshire resident or studying at a New Hampshire college or university and an accounting or business major entering their junior year at an accredited four-year college or university, or a graduate student pursuing a masters degree in accounting or business in an accredited program, or those seeking the additional 30 hours of education to become eligible for a CPA license in New Hampshire.
  2. Official transcripts from colleges or universities where the applicant is presently and was previously enrolled must be submitted with this application.
  3. A recommendation or appraisal letter from the professor or person in charge of the accounting or business program at the institution where applicant is presently enrolled must also accompany this application, as well as signing the application form.
  4. Send this application, the official transcript and the letter of recommendation to the New Hampshire Society of CPAs.  emailed to Maura Coakley at [email protected].
  5. DUE DATE: All items-the completed application form, transcripts from colleges and universities attended and presently attending, a letter of recommendation or appraisal must be sent/postmarked to the New Hampshire Society of CPAs no later than
December 15, 2022.
