Accounting & Auditing for Non-Profits
Meets monthly to monitor changes in accounting, auditing, tax and regulatory developments as they relate to the not-for-profit world. The committee provides education opportunities to members in public accounting and the not-for-profit community.
Audit
Business Valuation
There are many segments in the business valuation field – such as estate/gift, mergers/acquisitions, exit strategy planning, financial reporting, compensation/IRC 409A, litigation, ESOP’s, and bankruptcy. The AICPA recognizes the importance of specializing in business valuation with its ABV credential. The purpose of this committee is to structure networking and professional development programs for members and other professionals with interests in the business valuation field.
CPE Committee
The creation of a smaller, more nimble, CPE committee to assist in the design and presentation of more relevant and timely CPE courses, with the goal of increasing CPE and membership revenue by reaching a broader potential participants.
Financial Careers
Promotes activities of interest to members involved in education. Maintains close working relationships with the various institutes of higher learning in the State. Manages the scholarship award program. Hosts the Annual CPA Career Night Reception.
Golf Tournament
Assists staff in the planning and marketing of the society’s annual golf tournament. Provides resources for sponsorships, raffle items, and other fundraising ideas. Provides on-site assistance as tournament moderator.
Government Relations and Affairs
•Federal Key Persons
Assists in promoting the best interest of the CPA Profession by assisting the AICPA in responding to national issues facing the CPA profession within the legislative environment and cultivating relationships with senators and Congressmen.
•Political Action Committee
Encourages members to contribute to the CPA PAC, distributes PAC funds to selected candidates who support issues of importance to the profession.
•Tax and & State Legislation
Provides an in-depth resource to the membership on matters of State taxation. Maintains a liaison with state taxing authorities and promotes joint undertakings with these groups providing assistance in resolving problems. In cooperation with the NH Bar Association’s Tax Section, develops the Annual Tax Forum program. Responsible for updating the Annual Legislative Tax Guide for State Legislators. Aids in developing a better public understanding of the CPAs’ special competence in the field of Federal and State taxation. At the direction of the Board of Directors, may provide feedback and advice on State tax legislation issues or matters. Serves as a liaison to the NH Department of Revenue Administration by suggesting changes to regulations and statues to improve NH tax administration, reviewing current tax issues, and making recommendations to improve the tax process.
•State Legislation Sub-Committee
The mission of the NHSCPA (the “Society”) Legislative Sub-committee (the “Committee”) is to advise the Society’s Board of Directors, its members and federal, state and local elected and appointed officials on governmental decisions which can influence the practice of public accounting in the State of New Hampshire. The Committee is charged with educating the Society’s Board, its members and federal, state and local elected and appointed officials, advocating for new legislation, appropriations matters and changes to existing laws and regulations for the benefit of those that practice public accounting and the people and organizations which benefit from those services. The Committee assists in building consensus on public policy issues affecting public accounting, communicates these positions to relevant parties, facilitates relationships between the Society, its membership and elected officials, and disseminates timely information to the Society’s Board and members.
•Tax Forms and Software
Reviews DRA tax forms and instructions, recommends changes, and coordinates issues with software vendors.
Professional Ethics
Promotes the highest standards of ethical conduct within the profession and assists members in understanding and applying those standards. Fellow members appointed by the President

Review and discuss the education gap in the accounting curriculum; Discuss the Task Force recommendations with the accounting department chairs;Share recommendations with the Board of Accountancy

Young Professionals
Offers opportunities for young people in the accounting profession to gain access to insightful leaders as well as opportunities to build relationships with other young accounting professionals in New Hampshire. The committee continually works to develop programs to help improve young members’ professional skills and offers a variety of professional social networking events.
